About The Event
Hello McKinney Creative Community! Let's gather and share what is new and good!
All creative souls living in McKinney, Texas and surrounding areas are invited to connect with other creative folks through our potluck gatherings. Whether you are an artist, writer, musician, dancer, actor, sculptor, potter, jewelry maker, fiber artist, photographer, chef or you just want to share your creative juices, you are welcome! This is a potluck event so bring a dish or drink to share!
This month we welcome Jennifer Seibert as our guest speaker! Tangled Conversations: Image and Text tumble together to meditate on gratefulness Jennifer will be sharing her newest body of work made in the last 5 months. The new works are meditations on gratefulness and strength. Paintings, drawings, and videos collide with tumbling text to try to untangle feminist histories, intersectional theory, and how listening to other’s stories might help us find a better more equal world for all.
Jennifer Seibert’s work has been featured in exhibitions by the curator of Exhibitions from the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, the curator of Modern and Contemporary Fine Art with the Heritage Auction House, Post Contemporary Residency in Troy, New York, ICA Residency in Monto Castello de Vibio, Italy, and many other exhibitions both nationally and abroad. She has won awards from nationally recognized jurors, from the producers of PBS, the 48-hour film festival critics, and has been awarded competitive grants and sabbaticals to attend residencies home and abroad in Greece, Italy, and France, all while showing nationally and internationally with her paintings, drawings, videos, and installations. She is the owner and lead creator for her small business, Seibert Studios, creating commission works to help others remember their ephemeral moments. With Seibert Studios she has had multiple exhibitions, pop up shows, and participated in over 20 styled photo shoots resulting in the publication of her work in over 20 online journals and 4 industry print magazines all while creating over 600 commission works in the last three years. Seibert is in the second year of her PhD studies in Visual and Performing Arts at University of Texas Dallas on a full scholarship. She was a tenured Professor of Art at Eastern Michigan University for 10 years before returning home to raise her family. She is currently a Full-Time Professor of Art at Collin College teaching Painting, Drawing, and 2-Dimensional Design.
