About The Event

Hello McKinney Creative Community!  Let's gather and share what is new and good!

All creative souls living in McKinney, Texas and surrounding areas are invited to connect with other creative folks through our potluck gatherings. Whether you are an artist, writer, musician, dancer, actor, sculptor, potter, jewelry maker, fiber artist, photographer, chef or you just want to share your creative juices, you are welcome!  This is a potluck event so bring a dish or drink to share!

Our guest speaker this month will be Beth Fields! McKinney Tiny Doors is an exciting initiative from McKinney Main Street and Visit McKinney to highlight the charm and authentic nature of the Historic Downtown Square through a public art installation of tiny doors attached to buildings at the request of local businesses.  The installation piques curiosity and encourages visitors to explore with a closer look across the square.  Beth Fields serves as the Artist Coordinator for McKinney Tiny Doors and will share how the installation moved from vision to planning to public art in charming Downtown McKinney.

Multi-medium artist Beth Fields delights in being known as the “Door Lady of McKinney.” She draws on her love for color, pattern, and old things of all kinds to craft pieces that carry an echo of another time and place. After growing up in the North Dallas suburbs, Beth received a BA from Eugene Lang College in New York City and an MEd from Boston College. The seven years she spent on the East Coast gave Beth the opportunity to explore and admire the buildings of New York and New England, and two years of living in London gave her an even wider variety of buildings at which to marvel across the UK and Europe.  Beth's encaustic and acrylic collage paintings, hand-built pottery pieces with architectural elements inspired by old buildings, Artfully Remade Journals, photo prints, and stitching pieces are featured at the McKinney Art Gallery in Historic Downtown McKinney. Beth, a co-founder of My Fairy Art Mother, welcomes the opportunity to provide support and mentorship to artists needing a boost of encouragement on their own creative path. She is thrilled to now live in the beautiful McKinney Historic District.
