January 2022 McKinney Creative Community Meeting

Hello McKinney Creative Community!  Let's gather and share what is new and good!   

All creative souls living in McKinney, Texas and surrounding areas are invited to connect with other creative folks through our potluck gatherings. Whether you are an artist, writer, musician, dancer, actor, sculptor, potter, jewelry maker, fiber artist, photographer, chef or you just want to share your creative juices, you are welcome!  Bring a dish or drink to share!

This month we will have Kanyi Muraguri as our guest speaker! He will be speaking on his artist journey covering his love of photography, baking, to cooking!

Hi there, my name is Kanyi! I was born in Kenya and moved to Texas when I was a teenager. I now live in a small rural town called Princeton, Texas with my family. Some of my favorite things in life are journaling, photographing historical downtowns, spending time by myself and cooking for my wife and kids.In this blog, I will be sharing delicious, savory recipes that are cherished back home in East Africa. Many are foods and recipes that I love to cook for my family and impress guests. As exotic as they may sound, many of the recipes on this blog are super friendly to American tastes!My goal is to introduce you to unpretentious and flavorful food that you probably haven’t heard of or tasted. My hope is to inspire you to cook healthy East African food for yourself, your friends and your family.This blog is also a cultural heirloom for Africans and African-Americans in the diaspora who want to learn or teach their kids and loved ones how to cook the food they grew up eating.I really LOVE seeing the food that you’re making so if you cook one of these recipes please tag #kanyiskitchen or @kanyiskitchen in your Instagram photos and stories!
