Hello McKinney Creative Community! Let's gather and share what is new and good!
All creative souls living in McKinney, Texas and surrounding areas are invited to connect with other creative folks through our potluck gatherings. Whether you are an artist, writer, musician, dancer, actor, sculptor, potter, jewelry maker, fiber artist, photographer, chef or you just want to share your creative juices, you are welcome! This is a potluck event so bring a dish or drink to share!
Our guest speaker this month is Joshua Berry! In this engaging presentation, Joshua will share personal anecdotes and professional experiences, showcasing how computers have not only shaped his life but also inspired him to push the boundaries of creativity. From his early days discovering the magic of computers as a 10-year-old to his current roles as the founder of a trailblazing software company and the Executive Director of a STEM-focused non-profit, Joshua's journey is a testament to the limitless possibilities that technology can unlock.
Audience members will gain valuable insights into the role of technology in driving progress, as well as the myriad ways in which computers can be harnessed to fuel creative problem-solving and positive change. Joshua Berry is a multifaceted computer scientist with a passion for using technology to empower individuals and communities. As the founder of a software company, he spearheads the development of a groundbreaking mobile application for social enterprise, as well as an innovative ed-tech platform that bridges gaps in education through the use of large language models. In his dual role as the Executive Director of Briidge The Gap, a STEM-focused non-profit organization, Joshua has touched the lives of thousands of students by providing access to STEAM concepts through four key pillars of instruction: Digital Literacy, Financial Literacy, Cultural Literacy, and Linguistic Literacy. Joshua's lifelong fascination with computers began at the tender age of 10, after relocating from Detroit, Michigan, to Dallas, Texas. This early exposure to technology set him on a path to pursue a career in computer science and ultimately, to make a profound impact in the fields of social enterprise and education. With an innate talent for public speaking, Joshua has been invited to share his unique insights and experiences at the upcoming McKinney Creative Community event. His presentation, titled "Computers for Creativity," will explore the myriad ways in which technology has enriched his life and inspired his work, offering attendees a glimpse into the world through his distinctive lens.
